Biography
Patrick Kenny started his career in sports rehabilitation in 2008 where he was responsible for a range of elite sports personnel for the Delhi Commonwealth and London Olympic games. The competitors under his care achieved 300% of their medal targets at the Delhi Commonwealth and London Olympic Games.
He then completed his Masters in Physiotherapy (2014), published several articles, and specialised as a Kinetic Control Movement Therapist. This was completed whilst continuing to work in a leading London clinic, gaining vast clinical knowledge and application on top of his academic repertoire.
True to his love of ongoing education & development, Patrick is currently undergoing training for Diagnostic Ultrasound and Ultrasound Guided Injections.
Patrick has a Movement Health philosophy, wherein he believes that if we train our body to move in a variety of ways, we will not continually stress the same body parts. This is the key to achieving a pain free and improved life through Movement Health. On top of knowing how to make bodies work more optimally, Patrick practises a complete personalised approach to your rehabilitation. He adapts his approach to match every client’s unique goal and works compassionately, persistently, and patiently with them to achieve these.
Patrick likes to run, cycle, snowboard and cook (and eat!). He is also addicted to assessing running technique when walking in Richmond Park, much to his wife’s despair! Do not worry, he is receiving professional help for this.
Q&A
What inspired you to pursue a healthcare career?
I remember it to this day, watching England playing rugby and somebody ran on the pitch to put the “magic sponge” on an injured rugby player. I thought, I wouldn’t mind doing that. The rest is history!
Were there any mentors or role models who influenced in the field of health care?
I have been lucky to have a range of mentors that have helped me to develop my skill set and help me understand what type physiotherapist and business owner I want to be. My two biggest ones are my wife (had to get her in there!) and my ex-boss who I worked together with for 10 years.
What's the most rewarding thing about your role?
I love seeing people improve and helping them attain a level of function that they might have thought was out of their reach. That’s why I really enjoy taking on tough cases that require a lot of detailed assessment, support to the patient and encouragement to stay on track and see their rehab through.
If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Indian cuisine- specifically dhal, pani puri’s, keema,….actually everything now that I think about it 😂🤦🏻♂️
What's the most played song on your playlist right now?
A mixture of morning chill music for my walk into work..
