Who We Help
What is Pain with Intimacy?
Pain during sexual intercourse (medically referred to as dyspareunia) can occur due to a range of physical and hormonal factors. Common contributors include overactive (or tense) pelvic floor muscles, hormonal fluctuations, infections, or conditions such as vulvodynia and vaginismus.
Â
The discomfort we feel can vary. You may feel sharp pains, burning sensations, aching, often deep within the pelvis. This can understandably affect intimacy, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
How We Can Support You
- A thorough assessment to understand the source of discomfort
- Pelvic floor physiotherapy, muscle relaxation techniques, and medical management where appropriate
- Support for sexual wellbeing, including guidance for partners when helpful
- Practical strategies to help you return to comfortable, pain-free intimacy
