What is the Shockwave (ESWT) Therapy process?
ESWT is a non-invasive and safe treatment that will cause micro-trauma to your tissues to restart the healing process and provide a window of opportunity for your body to heal.
Your clinician will discuss and plan your treatment as we need to ensure that there is a suitable rehabilitation plan working in conjunction with this to ensure a full recovery.
What Can It Do?
Reduces Inflammation
Acoustic energy is delivered to the tissues in your body to reduce inflammation.
Increases Vascularisation
There is an increase in blood supply which improves oxygenation of the treated area.
Improves Recovery
Shockwave Therapy boosts the repair process by increasing the production of collagen fibres.
What To Expect
Duration
Sessions last approximately 15 minutes and should be around seven days apart. Research recommends 3-6 sessions; however, our clinicians will guide you.
Pain Levels
The treatment can be painful, but you generally experience a reduction in pain levels, which can be felt for a few hours after the session. Unfortunately, this will not last and you might experience a post-treatment increase in pain which may last from a few hours to a few days depending on the area being treated and presentation of your symptoms.
