Q&A

Some interesting insights from Heather

Something that i have always been passionate about is safe practice and looking after your body. When i was training to be a ballerina, safe practice and injury prevention where not a hot topic in the ballet wold in the late 80s and 90’s. So when i was injured during a ballet class in my mid teens which effected my professional career chance, i know that if i was to stay in the dance world and become a teacher i wanted to do it differently than the old school way. When i stated my teaching career i researched and did courses to create a safe environment for my students, to be strong and healthy and to reduce the risk of injuries.

When my own dance based injures made it harder to teach, I decided to go though the therapy route and went back to school to study sport massage.

I still maintain that same ethos of safe practicing and looking after your body, but now i help others to perform at their best , not just in the ballet world but in any activity they chose to participate in.

We get one body, so might as well keep it fit and healthy.
