Your Twickenham Massage Team
We provide a variety of massage styles in Twickenham. This includes sports, pregnancy and deep tissue massage by physiotherapists or therapists with medical degrees. What constitutes a great massage is unique to everyone. We assess and analyse you before your massage so that we can provide different pressures and styles to match your needs.
We leave five minutes between clients to clean the room with wipes and an aerosol disinfectant. At Move Physio, we offer massage that is moderate to firm in nature and specific to the areas that you need treating rather than following a massage routine.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Massage?
Massage is a therapy that uses varying pressures to treat the muscles and joints in your body to reduce tension and pain in the area.
Do I need massage or physiotherapy?
It needs to be assessed on an individual basis, although there are a few symptoms that physiotherapy is better at dealing with, such as:
- Nerve pain - burning, numbness, pins and needles.
- Muscle tears which make you limp, struggle to move a limb or have visible bruising/swelling.
- An impact or non-impact injury which makes you feel unstable in a joint.
The above are examples, and ultimately it is your choice, however, do call us if you want to speak to a physiotherapist.
What types of massage are there?
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
This style of massage can be used to treat a range of conditions such as sciatica, ITB syndrome, neck and lower back pain. Massage strokes will be alternated with trigger point, sustained deep pressure, and treatment techniques. It is one of the most effective ways to reduce the tension in your muscles and help you to move better.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE
This style of massage is light to moderate in pressure which will focus on relieving the build-up of tension and aches within your muscles. We only use massage products that are pregnancy-friendly.
Contrary to the information you might read, you can get a massage at any time during your pregnancy. It is hypothesised that having a massage in your first trimester can increase the risk of a miscarriage, although there is no research to support this. It is your decision whether you do this but do mention it to the therapist as they will perform a lighter massage.
SPORTS MASSAGE
This style of massage is ideal for any sportsperson – whether you are in pain or just feeling tight. It can help improve your performance and improve recovery times. We have extensive experience in keeping you ready to train and compete.
MASSAGE WITH CUPPING
This technique combines traditional massage with the ancient practice of cupping. By placing cups on the skin to create suction, we can enhance blood flow, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. Massage cupping is particularly effective for relieving muscle tension, improving circulation, and supporting overall wellness.
What are the benefits of our massage?
Our massages will:
- Treat trigger points (these feel like “knots” in your muscles) which reduces pain.
- Replenish cells with blood and oxygen.
- Improve muscle extensibility.
- Decrease muscle tension.
That is the science behind it all. However, the most important thing is that it makes you move and feel better!

Patients Stories
Dana Jamieson2022-11-17 I have been attending Move Physio for a few months, initially for physio with Lucy in relation to a knee injury, and then for Pilates (an assessment, then 3 x one to one sessions, and now classes twice a week). Lucy is an excellent physio and I couldn’t rate her more highly in terms of her expertise, knowledge, treatment methods and approach. And she is lovely as well! The Pilates sessions have been amazing and have been so good for my CrossFit training (which has improved considerable since I started doing them) and general mobility and well being. The space is also lovely and very welcoming, and with a maximum of four in a class there is so much individual attention. So pleased I started coming to Move! Damian Tillson2022-10-27 Great physio practice, from the lovely reception staff through to the very knowledgeable and professional practitioners. I've been seeing Lucy for rehab following a neck injury and not only did each session make a noticeable difference, but the detailed exercises she gave me are really helping me get back to full fitness, and beyond (I hope!) Each exercise emailed with instructions and examples so I know I'm doing them correctly. Hopefully I won't need to go there again, but I highly recommend them if you do. Taryn Druce2022-10-26 Outstanding physiotherapy, I tried another one previously but got nowhere with my injuries, I wouldn't bother going anywhere but here again! Lize created a totally tailored program which fixed my issues and now I'm back running long distances which I didn't think was possible - so thank you Lize! This calibre of physio is life-changing, I've already recommended to a family member and would 100% recommend to any one! vanita kanda2022-10-19 Highly recommend the centre as it helped with my recovery which no other physio centre has. Lucy is really an amazing Physiotherapist. Dan Lever2022-10-16 I had an ACDF surgery back in May this year. Patrick has been essential in facilitating my recovery though a combination of treatment, strength building and advice, helping me get back to being pain-free after over 2 years issues. I'm now back to running and lifting weights again just 5 months after the neck fusion surgery and I could not be more delighted with my progress. I'm lucky I discovered Move Physio and would thoroughly recommend them! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Andrew Gallagher2022-10-15 These guys have been brilliant. Having a bad ankle injury and prolonged problems, surgery was then followed by rigorous physio over months. I did as directed and, whilst before I feared I would not be able to play my favourite sports again, I am now back running, playing squash, cricket, golf ,etc. From Patrick to Arran and team, many thanks. Also, and not forgetting, the wonderful front office team, including, amongst others, Paula. Always friendly and encouraging, efficient and responsive Paula and the front office set the tone for a professional, helpful, thoroughly positive experience. Thank you everyone. I am now a regular and feel 15 years younger, at least. Andrew Sandra Sabbatino2022-10-11 I injured my right leg over summer, I was really struggling and thought it was my meniscus and that I had put myself out of running in the Half Parks. I booked in to see Mike Delbridge at Move Physio and I’m so glad I did, the massage and strengthening exercises got me up and running again after the first treatment.I had a few treatments and can honestly say that without this treatment and advice I wouldn’t have been able to run let alone complete the half marathon in 2h 20min !Very knowledgeable advice and just all round great service and a friendly atmosphere, highly recommend ! Louw van Buuren2022-10-07 I've been to Move for various injuries/niggles over the past few years. The entire Move team & and specifically Lize who treated me - have been excellent. They not only help to heal the injury, but also educate you on underlying causes and how to fix faulty movement patterns or inflexibility that lead to the issues. Highly recommended! natasha settelen2022-10-06 I have been attending move physio for nearly three years. I am a wheelchair user and move have been exceptional at catering to my needs. Specifically, Emer who has helped to improve my mobility. Move has helped me lead a more comfortable and happier life which I am very grateful for. Giovanni Berto2022-10-05 On top of the thorough and incredible deep tissue massage I got from Emer, her knowledge, ability to assess and provide additional exercises for specific forgotten muscles were the main reason for fixing my posture. Emer perfectly represents the whole staff’s comrade and communication to where you feel like a regular even though it’s your first time! Thanks so much Emer and the team at Move !
